These are robust, no-nonsense mugs but have a pretty white or light blue glaze to create a delicate appearance. Variations in colour in photos is due to the variations in the light.

They are about 9cm in height and hold approximately 300ml of liquid making them perfect for a decent cup of tea or coffee.

Speckles of iron from within the stoneware clay show through the glaze to create a lovely effect.

About Priory Pots

Priory Pots was established by Kate Charlton-Jones in a village north of Colchester, Essex in 2017. She learned to throw pots in Japan when she lived there for four years in the late 1980s. Having returned to England, she finally set up her own small pottery at home some years (and some children) later.

All Kate’s pots are hand-thrown on the wheel, predominantly in stoneware clay. The clays she uses are durable and are fired to a high temperature. She makes her own glazes and makes an ash glaze using wood ash from her burner: the wood burnt is predominantly fallen wood from her garden.

A keen walker and observer of nature, Kate is always thinking of ways to bring various natural forms and colours into her work. The aesthetic of Priory Pots takes leaves, grasses, trees, plants and the changing skies as inspiration.

Functionality is important to the products produced by Priory Pots and the designs are constantly being modified to enhance their practical use.

All the pots are dishwasher safe but hand-washing is recommended.
